    Born and raised East of the Los Angeles River, Las Cafeteras are remixing roots music as modern day troubadours.  They are a sonic explosion of Afro-Mexican rhythms, electronic beats and powerful rhymes that document stories of a community seeking to ‘build a world where many world fit.’

  • QuitaPenas

    QUITAPENAS was founded in 2011. The band was formed around their shared love of dance rhythms from the Tropical Afro Latin diaspora. They assembled a group of like minded friends to share the vision that went on to be QUITAPENAS. The group is made up of first generation son’s of immigrant parents from Guatemala and Mexico.

    While described by the press as a “fire breathing guitar hero” or nicknamed “Spain’s King of Twang” by Guitar Player, 2013 Latin Grammy winner Diego García goes for a more poetic phrasing to define himself: a 3-in-1 guitarist deeply in love with his instruments – which he secretly calls “his ladies”. Renowned for his fingerpicking technique, incredible versatility and distinctive ‘twang’ sound, his music is an unusual fusion of classical Spanish guitar, Latin rhythms, country, rockabilly, jazz…and even surf music.

    Buyepongo, an L.A.-based band known for their infectious Buyangu sound, has become a well-known name in the Los Angeles music scene. However, their musical repertoire extends far beyond cumbia. Buyepongo is a riotous fusion of influences, seamlessly blending hip-hop, punk, funk, and jazz into a deliriously infectious tropical mix that spans the rich tapestry of the Latin American culture.

    Formed in 2011, Grupo Bella is fronted by Grammy award winning vocalist and Grammy nominated composer Vanessa Ramirez. As founder of the group, Vanessa serves as lead vocalist, jarana/guitarist, and musical director. Her original compositions distinctly reflect her Mexican heritage and tell the stories of a young woman living in a modern and diverse Los Angeles.

  • Carlos y charlos

    Carlos y Charlos are two Los Angeles county born multi instrumentalists, Juan Carlos Reynoso (bajo sexto) and Charles De Castro (diatonic accordion) who initially came together to play just for fun the songs they love from their idols of Norteño like Los Alegres de Terán, Carlos y José, to Texas accordion legends like Santiago Jimenez Sr. and Narciso Martinez. Their blend of traditional polkas, waltzes  and classic norteño repertoire seemed to light up a party and cheer people up.

    MILPA (Music. Inspiration. Life. Poetry. Art) is a genre-blending collective of multi-instrumentalists from California’s Inland Empire. Rooted in MexChicano traditions and influenced by Colombia’s música del Pacífico and Afro-Latin American folklore, MILPA fuses Afro-Indigenous rhythms, tropical beats, melodic marimbas, and contemporary sounds. Their performances are a vibrant celebration of cultural connection, featuring powerful storytelling, a compelling female voice, and a rich blend of traditional and modern instrumentation.

    El Santo Golpe better translates to The Mighty Hit, the feeling that we all get when we experience a powerful sense of joy, an unexpected punch of happiness as we connect with a song, a rhythm, movement, art, or an experience in our lives that brings is us peacefulness and alegria! This musical experience was created with the goal of introducing an original take to the fun world of "Afro-Latin" music, as they borrow influences of rhythms, sounds, traditions, and Folklore from the Afro Latin Diaspora around the world.
